སེ་ར།


The etymology of Se-ra, one of the largest dGe-lugs monasteries, is said to be “fence/enclosure/barricade of rose-bush (or haw-thorn?).” See the Dris lan brgya ba (p. 211): snga dus dgon pa ’di nyid kyi mtha’ skor du SE ba’i shing mang po RA ba’i tshul du skyes nas yod pa’i cha nas de ltar thogs pa yin no ||. Note the se ba is also spelt as bse ba and gse ba. Jäschke 1881: s.v.
