ཡི་དམ།

The lDe’u chos ’byung (pp. 181–183) seems to etymologize yi dam as yid dam pa and hence mind of an ordinary sentient being is said to be yid dam par ma gyur pa contrasted with mind of a buddha which is yid dam par gyur pa. As a bahuvrīhi, yid dam could be understood as “one whose mind (yid) is or has become noble (dam pa gyur pa).”
