Probably cung is cognates to chung (“small”) and nyung “few” and cung zad etymologically means chung/nyung ngu tsam du zad pa or chung/nyung ngu tsam gyis zad pa “exhaustible/depletable by mere   [consumption of] a small degree/quantity].” Note that according to the brDa dkrol (s.v. chung zad), chung zad means cung zad.
