དྲིལ་བུ།

dril bu:

The etymology of dril bu (“bell” or “chime”) would be something very similar to German “Röllchen” (diminutive form of roll). Cf. ril bu.

  1. Do you think it was because at least in the older days bells had a more cylindrical shape? More like chimes than bells? You just roll up a sheet of metal and you get a bell?
