Let us consider the following bi-syllabic words which has pho as the first member:
1. pho nya “messenger”
2. pho brang “palace”
3. pho lha (only as a family name as in Pho-lha-nas?)
4. pho tshod “estimation” or “also sense of judgement”? (Not recorded in Jäschke 1881 but in the BTC)
5. pho rog “raven (perhaps also crow)”
6. pho long “stomach/belly” (Not recorded in Jäschke 1881).
Could there be a common meaning of the word pho in all these words? If so, what?
How about 'pho ba for pho nya? Just guessing. Achim
